Security Systems Update

I am pleased to let everybody know that our security upgrades are nearing completion:

  • Security Cameras are now fully operational and board members have remote access. The guards have been trained on their use, which is similar to fence activations.
  • The remotes have been fully deployed and despite a few teething problems, are working perfectly. There are some that may still find it easier to use the gate exit keypad more convenient. All remotes will work for entry. The reason for this is that the range has been reduced so that users have to be in front of the gate before the remote will work. This is a security feature.
  • The electric fence has been upgraded and the old electric fence removed. Plaster work on any damaged walls should be completed this week.
  • Visitor Access has been checked and will be active from today.
  • Gate access to non-residents will be commended from today. The following information in this regard is important to note:

Exit Key Pads (2) – one for pedestrians and the other for vehicles is active using the code 1234#. This may be given to anybody visiting or to use yourself to exit the estate. This code will not be changed.

Pin codes will be sent out to all residents and non-residents as soon as the final list has been received from ELF and validated. This will be done via SMS to each user, using the telephone number provided.

Instructions to staff will be sms’d to staff today. This will allow unattended access during the nominated days and times using a “please call me” sent to the gate. The gate will only work if the senders number is registered on the system and entry is requested during gate designated days and times.

Visitor Access using the intercom:

  • Visitors arriving at the gate will be able to communicate with the guard using the new intercom. They will be able to provide assistance if necessary.
  • Visitors should dial the required unit number 01, 02 ,04 15, 40 etc immediately followed by the resident number 01, 02 ,03 etc, depending on how many users are registered on the particular unit. My unit for instance would be 0501 – Unit 5, first resident.
  • Pin codes may be issued to trusted visitors only. Pin codes should not be used for contractors or occasional visitors. Pin codes may be requested using the contractor form on the website, which will be updated today.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact Pieter or any of the board members, who will be of assistance.
