We have been asked to comment on the use of electricity generators at Fleetwood Estate in relation to the provisions of the rules of the estate.
In doing so we note that there is no specific provision in our rules on the use of generators, but at the same time, there are provisions for noise and nuisance which essentially say that excessive noise is prohibited, especially on Sundays. We are also cognisant of Eskom load shedding, which is only likely to become more of a problem.
We therefore wish to request that residents at Fleetwood use Inverters at night on weekends and try to restrict generator use for during the day. Moreover, residents should take all possibly reasonable steps to minimize the impact of generator noise and fumes on other residents, especially direct neighbours.
Where your neighbour’s generator is bothering you, please speak to them to find an amicable solution. The Board will only get involved as arbitrator in the event that all dispute resolution mechanisms available to residents have been fully exhausted.
This is clear that the noise of generator could become a challenge for others.
